As fans of the so-called Galacticos of Real Madrid salivate at the prospect of a table-topping season, with the addition of the much-hyped Ronaldo, Kaka and Benzema, they understandably want to erase some of last seasons performances from their minds altogether.

According to several reports, deals were struck over dinner, to bring Ronaldo and Kaka to Real Madrid for a total of 136 million. Here you would be lucky to persuade Accrington Stanleys reserve keeper to sign on, if you were using the local paella as a bargaining tool.
How times have changed in world football
Chatting with a former Anfield legend earlier this year, he commented that when he moved to Liverpool in the 1980s from Holland, he was met by an old bloke at the airport wearing a flat cap and raincoat.
